Abstract
Introduction: This article presents and discusses problems associated with the general use of polymer materials, which, despite many beneficial qualities, characterise themselves with low resistance to fire. The discussion focussed on possibilities of increasing the resistance to fire with the aid of a suitably selected additive flame retardants. The paper also analysed behavioural characteristics of flame retardants.
