Abstract
Introduction: provides an opportunity for improvement. Therefore, it is appropriate to conduct research in this area with the aim of securing such a condition. For this reason the article describes characteristics of selected empirical methods, which are applied in research concerning safety. Such methods facilitate examination of processes with the aim of drawing conclusions and ultimately securing a safe existence for all. The article describes research methods such as: observation, experiments, interviews, expert methods and modelling. Supplementing theory with empirical methods creates an opportunity for securing reliable data, which can provide the basis for avoiding risk situations, which threaten stability.
