Abstract
Introduction: In this article the authors present information concerning continuity of power and signal supply to fire protection devices. In the first part of the paper the authors indicate how it is important to maintain the continuity of power and signal supply to fire protection devices for fire safety and safe evacuation from buildings. Following that, the authors focus on the definition of a cable system and the requirements established for cable systems and their parts. Next, the authors present the information about cables for fire protection which are available on Polish market and describe cable markings connected with fire resistance. Presentation of cable bearing systems, together with pointing out their specific parameters and classification according to DIN 4102-12 standard ,constitutes the following part of the article. Moreover, general requirements for installation of cable and cable systems are presented. In their summary, the authors indicate the importance of performing necessary conformity assessment of products and acquiring of specific documents which confirm product fulfillment of specific requirements.
